The American 180: Another First

Firsts are rare in the history of gunmaking. The flintlock. Early Colt's. John Browning's lever-action rifles and slide shotguns. His pistols and fully automatic weapons that went around the world in WWII.

And now the American 180. Not a redesign of anything, but an all new kind of weapon that will do what no other weapon can. Strong words. And a gutsy gun to back them up... the American 180.

World's Newest Automatic Rifle

Yes, the American 180 is designed as a semi or fully automatic weapon. A weapon capable of firing over 1200 rounds per minute. Over 20 rounds per second. But more about that later.

First let's look at the advantages of the American 180. Complete control. Concentrated, accurate firepower. Easy to handle. Compact. Lightweight. Efficient. Economical to buy and inexpensive ammunition. Many tactical uses.

Some of these things are true about every automatic weapon, but the American 180 qualifies in every category.

Control

Even a novice has complete, accurate control with the American 180. Because it fires .22 caliber long rifle ammunication, muzzle blast, barrel climb and body rotation are almost nil. Lack of recoil- or expected recoil- also keeps the shooter from flinching. small groups can be accurately squeezed off.

With very little practice, the entire 177 rounds in the drum can be placed in a three-inch circle at 20 yards. All of these elements combine to give you complete control over the American 180 in any situation or shooting position. It can even be fired on full automatic with one hand and still achieve accurate controlled firepower.

Accuracy

Because of its control, accuracy with the American 180 is extremely high. With the correct sight picture and trigger squeeze this weapon places the rounds where you want them. It has a non-glare blade front sight and adjustable peep rear sight.

The barrel is precision machined from high strength

steel. In over 10,000 rounds, no noticeable wear or decrease in accuracy was detected.

Firepower

Over 1200 rounds per minute. That's more that 20 rounds per second on full automatic. With the capability of switching to semi-automatic. And the control and accuracy of the American 180 makes it an effective weapon from its muzzle to well beyond 100 yards. This is the fastest hand held weapon in the world, capable of delivering devastating firepower under complete control with long gun accuracy.

Dependable

In spite of its high rate of fire the American 180 is not a temperamental gun. It fires from an open bolt using the blow back principle.

page2-f.jpg

Buried in sand and dunked in water, it came up shooting. Basically there is only one moving part, the bolt. This is the ultimate in simplicity designed to fire the mass produced .22 long rifle cartridge. In firing thousands of consecutive rounds of Remington .22 ammunition there has not been a single malfunction. A damaged cartridge can be extracted with a pull of the bolt, a rare occurrence.

The American 180 has been tested in... and passed... every condition, from arctic cold to tropical heat and humidity. Rain, snow, mud, and ice have failed to stop it. It can be completely disassembled and reassembled without tools in less than a minute. Ordinary care, cleaning, and a wipe-down with an oily cloth is usually the only maintenance needed.

Ammunition

The .22 caliber long rifle cartridge with a 40 grain bullet and 1350 fps muzzle velocity has greater penetrating power that the .38 special. And at 20 rounds per second-- or one at a time-- The American 180 puts you in complete control of every situation. The .22 long rifle cartridge is available everywhere, extremely economical and highly dependable. The American 180 will handle any .22 L.R. ammo... solid, hollow point, and regular or high velocity.

Handling

The American 180 has the natural point of a finger, with the balance between the hands. It is only 35 1/2 inches long... short enough to handle from inside a patrol unit. It is a light, fast swinging firearm that can be fired either right or left handed, since the spent casings are ejected from the bottom. The magazine snaps on fast from either the right or left. It will fire from any positon, even upside down.

Tactical Use

The American 180 is a unique weapon. Unlike any other. It's tactical use is limited only by the imagination. It can do more than any other single weapon. In the semi-automatic mode it can be used as a rifle in all situations calling for long range accuracy. Plus it can deliver accurate bursts or a screen of lead over these same distances.

It can be handled and fired in close-up situations with one hand, much like a machine pistol, leaving the other hand free.

It can deliver the firepower of a shotgun, but with much greater accuracy and range without the danger presented by a stray shotgun pellet.

With the stock removed it can be concealed easily and handled with one hand.

The American 180 commands respect without even firing a shot. Its appearance instantly identifies itself as a fully automatic weapon... causing an adversary to think twice before taking any overt action. This fact alone should make it highly effective in riot control.

The American 180 is also especially effective for counter sniper use, stake-outs, high speed chases, road blocks, prison control and street and alley situations.

The American 180 can be disassembled and assembled without tools.

New Optical Laser Lok Sight

Imagine being able to place your shots dead on target by just pointing a beam of light at it. That's exactly the principle of the Laser Lok sight. In dim light or darkness new Laser Lok sight puts bullets where you see the red dot. Forget about "sight picture", just put the laser dot where you want the bullets to go. Fire one-handed, from the hip, overhead... all you have to see is the Laser Lok dot to be dead-on target.

The helium-neon gas laser emits a perfectly straight beam of invisible light that causes a red, visible dot on the target. The dot is about 3 inches across at 200 yards.

This invisible red dot is a strong deterent when the adversary sees it on his body. All he has to know is that the dot is where the bullets will strike, if he takes the wrong action.

The emitting light source can be shielded so it cannot be traced back to its source.

The American 180 and the Laser Lok sight present the most advanced combination in the recent history of weaponry.

Since the Laser Lok sight also serves as the forearm, an extra barrel group with standard forearm is furnished with all American 180's equipped with the Laser lok sight. These barrels can be changed in a few seconds offering extreme flexibility in the tactical uses on the American 180.

Short Barrel Model

The American 180 is also available in a short barrel version. This is the ultimate in compact, devastating firepower. Highly concealable, always ready for action, with the same specifications as the long-barrel version. Is equipped with folding shoulder stock.
